Visiting the Chabot Space & Science Center in Oakland, CA

Last night we went to the Chabot Space & Science Center for an event called $5 First Friday.  It allows visitors to get a discount on the entrance fee once a month. It is a very popular event so if you want to check it out, get there before 6p. We had arrived at 5:30p. Knowing we would be getting there early, we also brought dinner with us. We ate it in the car, then at 6p the doors opened for the evening event.

There were many different shows going on that evening. We liked the "Science Revealed Live Show: Fire vs. Ice". They showed different science project related to getting things very cold and hot. It was very entertaining for everyone. Lily also liked  "The Big Family Quiz Thing". It was like a trivia show which some of the audience participated in the event. The questions were science related. She did a better job than me to guess the answers. In the Planetarium we saw a show called "Cosmos 360: Fast and Curious - Humans in Space". This was also a very entertaining show.

We also were able to look through the 20" telescope, named Rachel. They had it pointing at a star. It was about 7:20p so the sun had not set yet. I was surprise to see something before the sun had set. The telescopes can not view anything when there is high percent of humidity at the site. Every Friday and Saturday nights it is free to view through the telescopes. Access to them is in the back of the site.
